Constituted 17 November 1944 in the Army of the United States as the 3309th Quartermaster Service Detachment

Activated 1 December 1944 at Camp Lee, Virginia

Reorganized and redesignated 25 May 1945 as the 3309th Quartermaster Car Platoon

Inactivated 14 August 1946 on Guam

Converted and redesignated 13 November 1946 as the 3309th Transportation Corps Car Platoon

Redesignated 10 May 1967 as the 309th Transportation Platoon and allotted to the Regular Army

Activated 1 August 1967 at Fort Story, Virginia

Reorganized and redesignated 14 December 1970 as the 309th Transportation Detachment

Inactivated 15 October 2001 at Fort Story, Virginia

Withdrawn 20 June 2005 from the Regular Army and allotted to the Army Reserve

Activated 16 September 2009 at Panama City, Florida
