Reorganized and redesignated 11 July 1944 as Headquarters, 151st Engineer Combat Battalion

Inactivated 27 December 1945 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey

Reorganized and Federally recognized 16 January 1947 in the Alabama National Guard at Huntsville as Headquarters, 151st Engineer Combat Battalion

Ordered into active Federal service 14 August 1950 at Huntsville

Released 21 February 1955 from active Federal service and reverted to state control, concurrently, consolidated with Headquarters, 279th Antiaircraft Automatic Weapons Battalion (see ANNEX) and consolidated unit designated as the 279th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion

Converted and redesignated 2 May 1959 as Headquarters, 279th Signal Battalion

Ordered into active Federal service 1 October 1961 at Huntsville, released from active Federal service 13 August 1962 and reverted to state control

Ordered into active Federal service 11June 1963 at Huntsville; released from active Federal service 16 June 1963 and reverted to state control

Ordered into active Federal service 10 September 1963 at Huntsville; released from active Federal service 12 September 1963 and reverted to state control

Converted and redesignated 1 September 2008 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 279th Support Brigade

Constituted 25 May 1944 in the Army of the United States as Headquarters, 279th Coast Artillery Battalion

Activated 31 July 1944 at Shemya, Alaska

Inactivated 28 November 1945 at Fort Lawton, Washington

Redesignated 22 January 1951 as Headquarters, 279th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion and allotted to the Alabama National Guard

Organized and Federally recognized 19 February 1951 in the Alabama Army National Guard at Huntsville as Headquarters, 279th Antiaircraft Artillery Gun Battalion

Reorganized and redesignated 1 June 1951 as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 279th Antiaircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion

Redesignated 1 October 1953 as the 279th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion
