126th Support Battalion

  • Constituted 18 July 1917 in the National Guard as the 2d Company, 101st Supply Train
  • Organized 22 August 1917 in the Massachusetts National Guard while in Federal service at Camp Bartlett, Massachusetts, as the 101st Supply Train and assigned to the 101st Division
  • Demobilized 29 April 1919 at Camp Devens, Massachusetts
  • Reorganized and Federally recognized in the Massachusetts National Guard at Charlestown as the 1st Supply Train and assigned to the 26th Division
  • Redesignated 30 September 1921 as the 26th Division Train, Quartermaster Corps
  • Redesignated 23 March 1925 as the 26th Division Train
  • (Location of Headquarters changed 15 May 1926 to Newton)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 26 May 1936 as the 101st Quartermaster Regiment and remained assigned to the 26th Division
  • Inducted into Federal service 16 January 1941 at home stations
  • Regiment relieved 12 February 1942 from assignment to the 26th Division; 2d Battalion, Companies C and D, and 1st Platoon, Company E concurrently reorganized and redesignated as the 114th Quartermaster Battalion and assigned to the 26th Infantry Division (Company F concurrently disbanded)
  • After 12 February 1942 the above units underwent changes as follows:
  • 101st Quartermaster Regiment (less 2d Battalion, Companies C and D, and 1st Platoon, Company E) reorganized and redesignated 30 April 1943 as the 125th Quartermaster Company and assigned to the Americal Division
    Inactivated 10 December 1945 at Seattle, Washington
    Relieved 8 July 1946 from assignment to the Americal Division
  • 114th Quartermaster Battalion reorganized and redesignated 21 October 1942 as the 26th Quartermaster Company and remained assigned to the 26th Infantry Division
    Inactivated 3 January 1946 at Camp Patrick Henry, Virginia
  • 26th and 125th Quartermaster Companies consolidated, reorganized, and Federally recognized 21 January 1947 at Framingham as the 26th Quartermaster Company, an element of the 26th Infantry Division
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 March 1963 as Company A, 26th Supply and Transport Battalion, an element of the 26th Infantry Division
  • Consolidated 1 January 1965 with Company B, 26th Supply and Transport Battalion (organized and Federally recognized 4 March 1963 at Framingham), and consolidated unit designated as Company B, 26th Supply and Transport Battalion
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 March 1988 as Company B, 726th Support Battalion, an element of the 26th Infantry Division
  • Redesignated 1 September 1992 as Company B, 114th Support Battalion, an element of the 26th Infantry Division
  • (114th Support Battalion relieved 1 September 1993 from assignment to the 26th Infantry Division)
  • Consolidated 1 September 1996 with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 26th Infantry Division Support Command (see ANNEX 1), and consolidated unit redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 101st Quartermaster Battalion
  • Consolidated 1 September 2006 with Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 726th Maintenance Battalion (see ANNEX 2), and consolidated unit converted, redesignated, and expanded as the 126th Support Battalion, an element of the 26th Infantry Brigade Combat Team
  • Relieved 1 September 2008 from assignment to the 26th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and assigned to the 26th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade; concurrently, location changed to Springfield
