Constituted 1 June 1940 in the Regular Army as the 4th Signal Company, assigned to the 4th Division (later redesignated as the 4th Infantry Division), and activated at Fort Benning, Georgia

Inactivated 23 February 1946 at Camp Butner, North Carolina

Activated 6 July 1948 at Fort Ord, California

Reorganized and redesignated 1 April 1957 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 124th Signal Battalion (organic elements concurrently constituted in the Regular Army and activated at Fort Lewis, Washington)

Inactivated 15 December 1995 at Fort Carson, Colorado

Activated 16 January 1996 at Fort Hood, Texas
