122d Signal Battalion Lineage

Constituted 1 July 1916 in the Regular Army as a Signal Corps battalion

Organized 10 October 1916 at Fort Bliss, Texas, as the 1st Field Battalion, Signal Corps, to consist of the following companies:

    Company A organized 28 May 1899 in the Philippine Islands as Company E, Signal Corps
    Redesignated 5 April 1910 as Field Company E, Signal Corps
    Redesignated 11 November 1916 as Company A, 1st Field Battalion, Signal Corps

    Company B organized 1 July 1904 at Benecia Barracks, California, as Company I, Signal Corps
    Redesignated 5 April 1910 as Field Company I, Signal Corps
    Redesignated 11 November 1916 as Company B, 1st Field Battalion, Signal Corps

    (Company C organized in May 1917 at Fort Bliss, Texas)

Reorganized and redesignated 3 August 1917 as the 1st Field Signal Battalion

Assigned 21 September 1917 to the 2d Division (later redesignated as the 2d Infantry Division)

Reorganized and redesignated 23 April 1921 as the 2d Signal Company

Reorganized and redesignated 23 April 1921 as the 2d Signal Company

Reorganized and redesignated 20 June 1957 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 122d Signal Battalion (organic elements constituted 24 May 1957 and activated 20 June 1957 in Alaska)
