334th REGIMENT

 

Constituted 5 August 1917 in the National Army as the 334th Infantry and assigned to the 84th Division

Organized 25 August 1917 at Camp Zachary Taylor, Kentucky

Demobilized 18 February 1919 at Camp Zachary Taylor, Kentucky

Reconstituted 24 June 1921 in the Organized Reserves as the 334th Infantry and assigned to the 84th Division (later redesignated as the 84th Infantry Division)

Organized in November 1921 with Headquarters at Indianapolis, Indiana

Ordered into active military service 15 October 1942 and reorganized at Camp Howze, Texas

Inactivated 21 January 1946 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey

Redesignated 19 December 1946 as the 334th Parachute Infantry, an element of the 84th Airborne Division

Activated 31 January 1947 with Headquarters at Milwaukee, Wisconsin

(Organized Reserves redesignated 25 March 1948 as the Organized Reserve Corps; redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)

Reorganized and redesignated 29 March 1951 as the 334th Airborne Infantry

Reorganized and redesignated 1 March 1952 as the 334th Infantry, an element of the 84th Infantry Division

(Location of Headquarters changed 23 April 1954 to Madison, Wisconsin)

Reorganized and redesignated 18 May 1959 as the 334th Regiment, an element of the 84th Division (Training), with Headquarters at Sheboygan, Wisconsin

Reorganized 31 January 1968 to consist of the 1st, 2d, and 3d Battalions, elements of the 84th Division (Training)

(2d and 3d Battalions ordered into active military service 22 January 1991 at Kewaunee and Milwaukee, Wisconsin respectively; released from active military service 22 March 1991 and reverted to reserve status)

Reorganized 16 April 1995 to consist of the 1st, 2d, and 3d Battalions, elements of the 84th Division (Institutional Training)

Reorganized 1 October 2004 to consist of the 1st, 2d, and 3d Battalions, elements of the 100th Division (Institutional Training)  

Elements ordered into active military service in support of the War on Terrorism

Reorganized 1 October 2007 to consist of the 1st, 2d, and 3d Battalions, elements of the 98th Training Division

Reorganized 1 October 2008 to consist of the 1st, 2d, and 3d Battalions, elements of the 95th Training Division

Reorganized 1 October 2010 to consist of the 1st Battalion, an element of the 104th Training Division, and the 2d and 3d Battalions, elements of the 95th Training Division
