Activated 15 July 1940 at Fort Knox, Kentucky

        Reorganized and redesignated 1 January 1942 as the Military Police Platoon, Service Company, 1st Armored Division

        Reorganized and redesignated 20 July 1944 as the Military Police Platoon, 1st Armored Division

        Inactivated 26 April 1946 at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey

        Redesignated 27 February 1951 as the 501st Military Police Company, an element of the 1st Armored Division

        Activated 7 March 1951 at Fort Hood, Texas

        Inactivated 23 December 1957 at Fort Polk, Louisiana

        Activated 3 February 1962 at Fort Hood, Texas
