  • Redesignated 10 March 1947 as the 317th Military Police Battalion and allotted to the Organized Reserves
  • Activated 28 March 1947 at Jacksonville, Florida
  • (Organized Reserves redesignated 25 March 1948 as the Organized Reserve Corps; redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)
  • (Company A inactivated 15 January 1972)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 22 February 1972 as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 317th Military Police Battalion (remaining organic elements concurrently inactivated)
  • Location changed 1 October 1994 to Tampa, Florida
  • Detachment ordered into active military service 14 October 1995 at Tampa, Florida; released from active military service 3 April 1996 and reverted to reserve status
  • Ordered into active military service 15 March 2003 at Tampa, Florida; released from active military service 18 July 2004 and reverted to reserve status
  • Ordered into active military service 25 August 2009 at Tampa, Florida; released from active military service 28 September 2010 and reverted to reserve status
