  • Inactivated 25 May 1957 at Fort Benning, Georgia
  • Redesignated 1 July 1957 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2d Battle Group, 29th Infantry, assigned to the 10th Infantry Division, and activated in Germany (organic elements concurrently constituted and activated)
  • Inactivated 14 June 1958 in Germany and relieved from assignment to the 10th Infantry Division
  • Redesignated 4 January 1963 as the 2d Battalion, 29th Infantry, and assigned to the 197th Infantry Brigade
  • Activated 1 February 1963 at Fort Benning, Georgia
  • Inactivated 14 November 1965 at Fort Benning, Georgia, and relieved from assignment to the 197th Infantry Brigade
  • Headquarters transferred 11 September 1987 to the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command and activated at Fort Benning, Georgia
  • Battalion redesignated 1 October 2005 as the 2d Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment
