3d Battalion, 29th Field Artillery Regiment

  • Constituted 5 July 1918 in the National Army as Battery C, 29th Field Artillery, and element of the 10th Division
  • Organized 11 August 1918 at Camp Funston, Kansas
  • Demobilized 4 February 1919 at Camp Funston, Kansas
  • Reconstituted 24 March 1923 in the Regular Army as Battery C, 29th Field Artillery
  • Activated 1 August 1940 at Fort Benning, Georgia, as an element of the 4th Division (later redesignated as the 4th Infantry Division)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 October 1940 as Battery C, 29th Field Artillery Battalion
  • Inactivated 14 February 1946 at Camp Butner, North Carolina
  • Activated 15 July 1947 at Fort Ord, California
  • Inactivated 1 April 1957 at Fort Lewis, Washington, and relieved from assignment to the 4th Infantry Division
  • Redesignated 30 April 1959 as Battery C, 29th Artillery, withdrawn from the Regular Army, and allotted to the Army Reserve
  • Activated 1 June 1959 at Westminster, Maryland
  • Redesignated 1 September 1971 as Battery C, 29th Field Artillery
  • Inactivated 16 September 1979 at Westminster, Maryland
  • Withdrawn 1 April 1984 from the Army Reserve and allotted to the Regular Army; concurrently, redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 3d Battalion, 29th Field Artillery, assigned to the 4th Infantry Division, and activated at Fort Carson, Colorado (organic elements constituted and activated)
  • Battalion relieved 16 December 2004 from assignment to the 4th Infantry Division, and assigned to the 3d Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division
  • Redesignated 1 October 2005 as 3d Battalion, 29th Field Artillery Regiment
