  • Constituted 15 July 1942 in the Army of the United States as the 2d Battalion, 924th Engineer Regiment, Aviation
  • Activated 1 October 1942 at Richmond Army Air Base, Richmond, Virginia
  • Reorganized and redesignated 2 June 1943 as the 1906th Engineer Aviation Battalion
  • Inactivated 28 February 1946 in the Philippines
  • Redesignated 26 March 1948 as the 448th Engineer Construction Battalion and allotted to the Organized Reserve Corps
  • Activated 1 May 1948 at San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • (Organized Reserve Corps redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 10 September 1953 as the 448th Engineer Battalion
  • (Location of Headquarters changed 20 January 1966 to Bayamon, Puerto Rico; on 17 March 1974 to Puerto Nuevo, Puerto Rico; on 6 June 1977 to Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico)
  • Ordered into active military service 7 December 2003 at Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico; released from active military service 3 June 2005 and reverted to reserve status
