  • Converted and redesignated 8 February 1951 as Headquarters, 5th Armored Cavalry Group, and allotted to the Regular Army

  • Reorganized and redesignated 13 September 1954 as Headquarters, 5th Armor Group
  • Inactivated 16 March 1956 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri
  • Withdrawn 1 January 1975 from the Regular Army and allotted to the Army Reserve; concurrently converted and redesignated as Headquarters, 5th Brigade (Training), and activated at Lincoln, Nebraska
  • Inactivated 15 September 1995 at Lincoln, Nebraska
  • Withdrawn 24 October 1997 from the Army Reserve and allotted to the Regular Army; concurrently converted and redesignated as Headquarters, 5th Armored Brigade, and activated at Fort Carson, Colorado
  • Inactivated 16 October 1999 at Fort Carson, Colorado
  • Activated 1 December 2006 at Fort Carson, Colorado
