  • Constituted 13 January 1945 in the Army of the United States as the 238th Chemical Service Platoon
  • Activated 12 February 1945 in the Philippines
  • Inactivated 28 February 1946 in Japan
  • Redesignated 30 November 1948 as the 379th Chemical Smoke Generator Company and allotted to the Organized Reserve Corps
  • Activated 18 January 1949 at Chicago, Illinois
  • Ordered into active military service 11 September 1950 at Chicago, Illinois
  • (Organized Reserve Corps redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 October 1953 as the 379th Chemical Company
  • Released from active military service 6 January 1955 and reverted to reserve status
  • Ordered into active military service 7 December 2003 at Chicago, Illinois; released from active military service 3 June 2005 and reverted to reserve status
