  • Inactivated 15 January 1952 in England; concurrently, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 83d Chemical Smoke Generator Battalion redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 83d Chemical Mortar Battalion

  • Activated 18 March 1955 at Fort McClellan, Alabama
