131st Aviation Regiment

  • Organized 1 October 1986 from new and existing units in the Alabama, District of Columbia, and Florida Army National Guard as the 31st Aviation Battalion, with Headquarters at Montgomery, Alabama
  • Reorganized and redesignated 1 October 1987 as the 131st Aviation, a parent regiment under the United States Army Regimental System, to consist of the 1st Battalion and Companies E and F
  • Reorganized 1 September 1990 in the Alabama and Colorado Army National Guard to consist of the 1st Battalion and Companies E and F
  • Reorganized 1 September 1995 in the Alabama, Colorado, and Georgia Army National Guard to consist of the 1st Battalion and Companies E and F
  • Reorganized 1 December 1996 in the Alabama Georgia, and Mississippi Army National Guard to consist of the 1st Battalion and Companies E and F
  • Reorganized 1 September 2002 in the Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, and Pennsylvania Army National Guard, to consist of the 1st Battalion, and Companies E and F
  • (Company E ordered into active Federal service 7 February 2003 at Birmingham)
  • (Company F ordered into active Federal service 18 January 2004 at Birmingham)
  • (Company E released from active Federal service 14 June 2004 and reverted to state control)
  • (Company F released from active Federal service 15 July 2005 and reverted to state control)
  • Redesignated 1 October 2005 as the 131st Aviation Regiment
  • Reorganized 1 March 2006 in the Alabama and North Carolina Army National Guard to consist of the 1st Battalion
  • (1st Battalion ordered into active Federal service 27 March 2006 at home stations; released from active Federal service 27 September 2007 and reverted to state control)
  • (1st Battalion ordered into active Federal service 15 April 2011 at home stations; released from active Federal service 26 January 2012 and reverted to state control)
