  • Activated 24 February 1947 with Headquarters at Toledo, Ohio
  • (Organized Reserves redesignated 25 March 1948 as the Organized Reserve Corps; redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)
  • Redesignated 1 June 1948 as the 463d Engineer Combat Battalion
  • Reorganized and redesignated 20 July 1953 as the 463d Engineer Battalion
  • Reorganized and redesignated 29 December 1965 as the 983d Engineer Battalion
  • Location changed 9 September 1996 to Monclova, Ohio
  • Ordered into active military service 26-27 October 2004 at Monclova, Ohio; released from active military service 23-24 April 2006 and reverted to reserve status
  • (Organic elements inactivated 15 June 2007 at home stations; Support Company concurrently constituted and activated)
