The U.S.
Army Center of Military History (CMH) maintains a large
collection of original artwork and prints. In an attempt to make more
users aware of these unique collections, many will be processed
into screensavers and desktop backgrounds (wallpapers) designed
for use on Windows-based computers. Available collections will be
noted on this page, with additions being made as time permits.
Backgrounds:
The Wallpaper files have been formatted for three major screen resolutions
(640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768). After "right-clicking" on
the appropriate link for your monitor resolution you will be given the
option to save the file to the hard drive of your computer. After saving
it, the user can select their background images through the 'Display'
options in Control Panel, or by right-clicking on their desktop and
selecting 'Properties' option. Depending on the location that you have
saved the file to, you can select the desired images by using the "Browse"
option in the 'Display Properties' window to change to the specified
directories.
Screensavers:
The Screensaver files have been formatted for three major screen
resolutions (640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768), some are offered with
sound files components. All screensaver files are provided as self-extracting
".exe" files (with the sound versions being identified with a "-s"
in the filename). After "right-clicking" on the appropriate
link for your monitor resolution you will be given the option to
save the file to the hard drive of your computer. After saving the
files simply double click on them and the files will copy to any
machine running the Windows operating system and set themselves
as the default screensaver.
