U.S. Army Center of Military History
Soldiers of the American Revolution
Backgrounds (Wallpapers)
The U.S. Army Center of Military History (CMH) commissioned H. Charles McBarron, the famed military artist, to create the original paintings for the "Soldiers of the American Revolution" as part the bicentennial celebration of the American Revolution. To make such collections more widely known and available to the Army and the public, CMH has posted the works on its website (www.history.army.mil/). The ten prints from the Soldiers of the American Revolution have been converted into screensavers and wallpaper (bitmap) images for Windows-based computers.
Backgrounds:
The Wallpaper files have been formatted for three major screen resoultions (640x480, 800x600, and 1024x768). After "right-clicking" on the appropriate link for your monitor resolution you will be given the option to save the file to the hard drive of your computer. After saving it, the user can select their background images through the 'Display' options in Control Panel, or by right-clicking on their desktop and selecting 'Properties' option. Depending on the location that you have saved the file to, you can select the Revolutionary War images by using the "Browse" option in the 'Display Properties' window to change to the specified directories.
